When it comes to Counter-Strike 2, I need to “get gud.” I have never made it out of Silver with 650 hours under my belt. That’s not a lot for CS standards, but I definitely should be better than I am. So why do I keep coming back? Mainly so I’m on your team and you’re stuck in elo hell with me, but also I just love the game. Let’s take a moment and look at what makes this a great game to play even after all these years.
Is Counter-Strike 2 worth your time?
Absolutely it is, but only if you are willing to put in the time and do research outside of the game. I’m not going to get into everything you need to know because, to be honest, there’s so much I still don’t know. You can do a quick “How to play CS2” search on YouTube and get the basics, but if you want to continue, you’re going to need to invest time learning the more advanced tactics. Counter-Strike has a very high skill ceiling for an FPS game and could be seen as a turn-off for some. If I had to play a pro 1v1 to 10 kills in both Call of Duty and CS, I could probably land a few kills in CoD, but I probably wouldn’t even be able to land a few shots in CS.

Things I love about Counter-Strike 2.
I have to take it back to Call of Duty. Back in the day, all I played was Search & Destroy. I liked it because it was round-based with no respawns. The reason I liked this was because when you got a kill, it actually felt like you were doing something to help the team. Now fast forward to when I started playing CS. It’s basically the same game mode as Search & Destroy. When you get a kill in CS, it’s more rewarding than any other FPS I’ve ever played. When you get the one tap with an AK, it’s magic. I would much rather have a 30 kill game in CS than an 80 kill game in CoD and it’s not even close.

The Community.
If we are going to talk Counter-Strike, we must talk about the community. It’s 80 percent of the reason I play the game. People actually use their mic in this game, and that’s up to you to decide if that’s good or bad. It reminds me a lot of the good old MW2 days. Staying up all night with random people, trash talking, and having a good time. There are downsides to that. A lot of times, if you’re solo queuing, you lose games before they start because your team decides they hate each other. I have had many good times just listening to the convos that unfold over the course of a match. CS really is a social game and you don’t see that a lot these days.
