I always find myself coming back to the Halo series because I loved playing Halo 2 and 3 back in the day. Halo 2 is what got me into online gaming. I remember playing on Xbox Live for the first time. Seeing the other players’ names pop up on the screen and hearing the voices behind them for the first time was an unforgettable experience. At the time, I didn’t have internet, so I would have to go over to family or friends’ houses to even play. I eventually got internet and Xbox Live sometime during the Halo 3 era. Online gaming changed everything. Did Halo stand the test of time after all these years? In this post, I’m going to go over what I think about the most current entry into the series and if Halo Infinite is worth your time in 2025
Halo Infinite has been out for 4 years now, is it too late to jump in?
“Yep, too late, get off my lawn” is what I would say to you if I was lying. No, of course it’s not too late to get into. Halo 7 doesn’t even have a release date yet, so Infinite still has plenty of life. Also, it’s free to play, so you have nothing to lose if you do choose to start playing. Just because the game is free doesn’t mean it’s worth your time. It really depends on what you’re trying to get out of Halo.

What does Halo Infinite have to offer?
The game looks and feels great. The graphics are all I could have asked for and the movement feels great. There is a huge divide in the Halo community over if sprint should be in the game. I like having sprint, but they did add a Halo 3 Legacy mode that has a lot of remade Halo 3 maps and you play with the Halo 3 game settings (no sprint), and I enjoyed it equally. Squad Battles is my favorite mode. It’s 8v8 on maps with vehicles and is a mix of Team Slayer and objective game modes. Halo Infinite has a lot of customization options from weapon skins to vehicle skins and kill animations. I’m still able to play Halo and have a good time.
What Halo Infinite does wrong
Halo Infinite should not have been free to play. I would like to have seen more focus put into more maps than armor pieces you have to buy from the store. This also took away any cool armors you could unlock by doing cool things in-game. I also hate the fact that they have rotating ranked playlists. I don’t want to put in the effort to rank up just to have the playlist taken away.
Maps have been an issue since this game has released. It feels like I’m playing the same 4 to 5 maps over and over. The game has been out for 4 years now, so there’s no reason for it to still be this way. Halo Infinite is far from perfect but is it good enough to still get into in 2025?

The verdict!
Yes, I would say Halo Infinite is worth your time in 2025. Mostly, I would recommend this game to anyone who is looking for something to play and just have a little fun. I would not recommend you just play it all the time, as I find it just lacks the content to spend hours a day playing. I hop on and play a few matches and have a great time, but can’t play it for longer than that. If it wasn’t free to play and still in the condition it is now, this would be a big nope from me.
