Who, you might ask?
Sony and Microsoft did.
They’ve had absolute idiots fighting over this for almost as long as there’s been conflict in the Middle East. If you don’t know what the console wars are, well, you’re living a better life than I.
To keep it simple, it’s a bunch of brain-dead people on Twitter arguing over who bought the better console. They act like they’re Sony’s or Microsoft’s personal bodyguards. I swear some of these dudes would jump in front of a bullet to protect these billion dollar companies.
So what are they actually fighting about?
Exclusives, mostly who has the better ones. But even that’s fading, with Microsoft moving away from a lot of theirs. Team Xbox is hyped on Game Pass, while PlayStation fanboys are screaming that Xbox is giving up because they might not even manufacture the next console. “They’re becoming a software company!” they shout.
I remember being part of this back when I was 13 then I grew up.
Turns out, none of it matters. Video games are supposed to be fun. Even if your console is technically better in some way, who cares? You don’t gain anything by being a keyboard warrior for companies that don’t even know you exist.
You don’t have to justify your purchase. Just go play some video games.
